An Introduction to Portrait Drawing

 

Learn to draw a realistic portrait of the human face from a photograph.

 

This full day workshop is designed for complete beginners but also caters for those with some drawing experience who wish to develop their skills further. You will draw from a photograph and learn how to build a likeness from broad shapes through to more refined features using charcoal. This workshop is an excellent first step before you begin to draw from a live model. Donna will be on hand to support you throughout the day and the techniques that you learn during the workshop will equip you to create your own portrait drawings at home.

  • Complete beginners to portrait drawing. 
  • Those who want to improve their current drawing ability.
  • Those who want some tutored experience before tackling portrait drawing from a live model.

What you need to bring:

  • An apron, or clothes that you don’t mind getting charcoal on.

Donna Trim is a local Fine Artist and tutor who has been teaching drawing and painting for over 20 years. She is passionate about the benefits of drawing, particularly from life, to improve all aspects of one’s art practice. Her workshops are accessible to all, relaxed, friendly, supportive and always delivered with a great sense of humour.
